In another 75 villages, there would
be 100% loan component for water and sanitation activities ensured
so that the community based organizations will work for water
and sanitation coverage in the village without any subsidy component.
Further, as a part of leverage funding and ripple effects, the
remaining hamlets of 300 in the nearby areas will be motivated
to work for water and sanitation coverage in their respective
villages. The major activities include PRA, baseline survey, water
quality monitoring, training to PRIs, plumbers and AWASH members.
As a part of capacity building process, training to OHT operators,
orientation for bankers, campaign on WaterCredit and AWASH federation
training would be organized. So far, 3684 household water connections
and 3020 household toilets were constructed in household toilets
were constructed in the 100 villages. Training to 321 PRI representatives,
132 plumbers, training to 5261 AWASH members, 1861 water sources
tested, 25 PRAs conducted in the target villages. This will be
also scaled up from a micro level to macro level with a visionary
approach to accessible water and sanitation for all through hygiene
promotion and providing individual houses with water connection
and toilets. Gramalaya is to create the model villages with water
connection and toilet facilities in all households of 100 villages.
As accessible water and sanitation in rural areas is a big dream
come true, hence the need for all to put in their efforts to achieve
the MDG goal. |
