Project duration is between Sep'2016 and Auust'2017. These 5 Villages are seriously and sincerely mapped with support of the local Communities.
Prior to mapping, Gramalaya has propounded about the Health Collectives among the local communities, and formulated such a group called DPMC-Disaster Preparedness and Management Committee, comprised by 20 members, both men and women. This is a kind of Village level community structure to Envisage, Enrich and Energise the activities of Disaster Preparedness and for Mainstreaming linkages to obtain the Government assistances.
Through the DPMC, mapping, identification and listing of most affected communities are carried out. During such effective Our-Reach, Gramalaya utilises the capacity of DPMC and has envisaged the following activities at the project villages.,viz,

A view of Communities with materials at Nallampaakam Village
Pertaining to the Semencherry Costal village, During the months of October( In Tamil, Ippasi month)and November Rainy season, SO, as Fishermen Community, who cannot go to the Sea area for Fishing, since it is a Pivotal Livelihood of them. Fortunately, Gramalaya-CAF-Walmart initiated such felt-need and great support to the communities, that too Diwali Season, indeed, they won't go for private loan to celebrate the Festive season. The provided materials well enough for One Month food of entire family, due to off-season for fishing.
Such impact at Nallampaakam village, Seriously Speaking, this village livelihood is meant for only Quarry site and some go as daily labourers, the most affected village during the recent Chennai Flood. Accounting all causes, Gramalaya-CAF- Walmart Support have not allowed them to go for meter (alarming) interest rate loan to celebrate Diwali Festive season, by way of distributing the Food Kits.
Voice of the Communities, "after decades, we are going to celebrate the Diwali festive season with real enthusiasm without loan burden and our family & children have realistic smiling, otherwise, we will go for High-Interest-Private Loan to celebrate with basic Diwali needs and we must work hard to repay the loan at least for 5 months. Till the Repayment period, we will have Neck to Neck – Cutthroat position of money flow, out of our breadwinning money. Gramalaya & CAF-Walmart have lifted & rescued us from this ill scenario"
Beyond the Project Metrics, Gramalaya has created and passionately perceived a well and strong platform among the Communities to Overcome the barriers by Resilience and Rehabilitation with Community Approach & Community Participation through DPMC, indeed, it will escalate the Community towards Sustainability for Planning and Preparedness at the Semmencherry and Nallampaakam Villages of Wal-Mart project sites.
Yes, Gramalaya has constituted an absolute, transparent and Un-Biased event of Flood Material Distribution as a Value added Tool towards stretching & strengthening of the Community Participation at the Project sites.
